Anne  Peretz

Summer Salon : Select Gallery Artists

May  9th  -  May  23rd,  2008

In this body of work, Peretz has gravitated to the landscape of the Outer Cape of Massachusetts, of which she is intimately familiar.  With her use of expressive brushstrokes, she captures a certain serenity to be found in the dunes and ponds of that region.  These paintings describe her relationship with nature that can be seen as monumental, lonely and bleak, yet expressing a sense of comfort in the enveloping character of these places.   Revisiting and creating new paintings of many of the same locations acknowledges their constancy while also expressing their ever changing face.

Working both on-site and in the studio, Peretz develops her paintings through the use of direct observation while the studio time allows her to imbue within her work a distinctive poetic interpretation of place and time.

Peretz' work is included in several public collections including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Bard College Collection, The Jewish Museum, The Rose Art Museum of Brandeis University, the Israel Museum, and the Provincetown Art Association.
